SUMMARY
Responsible to act in accordance with the RCPI policies and procedures. The Maintenance Mechanic performs a full range of assignments using independent judgement to make decisions requiring the application of procedures and practices to specific work situations. Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains heavy machinery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Typical duties and responsibilities include those listed below. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Other duties may be assigned.
- Industrial mechanical/ pipe fitting/hydraulic repairs
- Welding, machining and other fabrication
- Rigging, aligning machines and belt and pulley drives
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following qualifications are also desirable:
- Journeyman status or equivalent experience in mechanical trades
- Be willing to work off-shifts and weekends, if required
- Possess welding certification AWSD14.1 (Industrial Mill crane welding)
- Timken big bore bearing school
- Welder certified to ASTM & AISI A-53 as pertains to section IX of the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. SMAW (Shield Metal Warc Welding)
- MT 252 Fluid Mechanics course
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

- Demonstrated knowledge as a pipe fitter/plumber
- Demonstarted knowledge of hydraulic system
- Demonstarted knowledge of boilers and/or furnaces
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing is highly desirable
